We are on the corner of Chapel Street and a little side street called Barlow's Croft. The Rover's Return pub is next door and Sacred Trinity Church is opposite.

Please note, we are at the Manchester City Centre end of Chapel Street (it's a long street), close to Blackfriars Street which is directly off Deansgate.

We are only a couple of minutes' walk from the Lowry Hotel car park and less than 10 minutes' walk from Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and M&S.

We always put a sign out on the pavement on Chapel Street near The Rovers Return.

By train: we are about 10 minutes in a cab from Piccadilly station. It doesn't take much longer to walk but if you have heavy bags it is probably too far.
By plane: It normally takes about 20 minutes from the airport but best to allow up to an hour during peak times.
By car: as well as metered on-street parking (free after 6pm) there a number of car-parks close by as you can see from the map.
By taxi: If you take a cab from the station or airport, you should mention Chapel Street. It is a long street so tell the driver that we are at the Blackfriars Street end, near Deansgate. Most cab drivers should also know The Lowry Hotel, which is close by.

Car park hints and tips

Evenings: free parking

For evening groups, we are currently able to offer supervised parking spaces after 5pm in our own car park on Cross Street very close to our office (this is not the main Cross Street in the City Centre, see the Google map above) There is also ample free on-street parking on Chapel Street and Booth Street after 6pm.

FREE PARKING FOR MODERATORS AND CLIENT COMPANY VIEWERS

During the day we are happy to provide free parking to moderators and clients, please phone us on 0161 834 3396 in advance for details.

Day and night parking options

The overground Deansgate NCP: main entrance opposite the Cathedral at the northern end of Deansgate. 24hrs. Once you have entered the car-park drive down the first turning on the left. It is a long, narrow spur with cars parked on both sides. Go as far down there as you can. Then, rather than walking out of the main entrance you will be able to walk out of the gate at the bottom of the spur. This brings you out onto Chapel Street. Walk towards the church and Barlow’s Croft is directly opposite.
On entering the car-park, if you put your credit card into the machine rather than taking a ticket, you do not need to queue at the machine to pay when you want to leave. Simply put your card into the machine at the barrier as you drive out.

Manchester Market Place NCP: Main entrance next to the Marriott Renaissance hotel on Blackfriars Street. 24hrs.

The over ground Chapel Street Euro Car Park: Adjacent to the Cocoa Rooms. £5 per day.

The Lowry Hotel: Parking for residents and non-residents, £10 per day.

Daytime Recommendations

Non-residents are able to park at the Travel Lodge round the corner until 6pm (it is pay & display).

For daytime research sessions, there are acres of parking in the all-day car parks clearly signed as £2.50 or £3.00 all day once you pass under the bridge at the junction with Chapel Street and Blackfriars. These are manned all day, but not at night. You may prefer to wear sensible shoes as they are rather rough and ready.

Where to stay

When you are away from home its great to stay somewhere nice, and even better when you get a good deal on the price.

As part of The Talking Shop’s on-going attempt to make life better for those involved in research, we have negotiated a special rate with a number of Manchester’s best hotels. This won’t always be the cheapest rate, but on those irritating occasions when no-one is offering a decent deal our discount could be just what you need.

The following hotels have offered us a special rate, you just need to call the hotel direct and quote ‘The Talking Shop’
